YOUR ROATÁN DIVE ESCAPE

 Wow! We had such a wonderful week with Island Diving! This group dives all over the world together and I must say that we have never felt more taken care of than here. To welcoming us at the airport, to the reception cocktails and appetizers, to looking after our gear, and showing us all the “cool stuff” under the water, we just felt very taken care of the whole week. Our trip to Cayos Cochinos was so special, what beautiful reefs and happy fish! Thank you to Beto, Manu, Angel, Devin, Josefina, Fredy, and Javi for all the attention. We will be back next year! It’s also good to note that the hotel was lovely as was Tequila Jack’s, the resto/bar onsite. Happy Hour cocktails in the pool for the win! See you in 2027!

We really enjoyed our dives with Beto and the IDC team! This is a first class operation and we felt super safe and adventurous at the same time! Beto has a gift for finding and seeing creatures big and small along the reef and in the open blue! Thank you for a fun time!

We just wrapped up 6 days (two morning dives a day and one night dive) of fantastic diving with Island Diving Center. We were lucky to get Beto as our Dive Master for the whole week and he showed us everything we wanted to see - Spotted Eagle Rays, turtles, sea horses, octopus, thousands of fish and even the elusive scorpion fish in the last 5 minutes of our last dive! We had one unexpected complication during a dive (our personal equipment malfunction) and Beto assessed the need immediately and calmly and reminded us all how to handle an under water emergency.

Our teens went through their Advanced Open Water and Nitrox certifications with Manu and she was an excellent and patient instructor.

Captain Angel got us safely to and from the dive sites in both their small boat and newer big boat which accommodated 7 divers, three dive masters and two snorkelers comfortably. This was our first time in Roatan and we were pleased to find that the reefs looked pretty healthy with little bleaching. The sea life was abundant and in low season it sometimes felt like we were the only divers around. We will be back and will dive with Beto and his crew again.

We stayed in the Villa side of the Las Brisas Del Mar in a two bedroom condo with all the amenities. We had a full kitchen, but didn't cook - there is not a good super market within walking distance in the West End. There are plenty of good restaurants- mostly priced for tourists, but you can still get baleadas for a couple bucks. Cash is important, dollars or lempiras - but alot of places will also take PayPal or venmo.

We enjoyed a couple of day trips going to the Carambola botanical gardens in Sandy Bay (flip flops aren't great for hiking to the top for the gorgeous view) and we took a trip to the east side for a mangrove tour - there aren't roads all the way to the end so the people travel by boat everywhere. Captain Edward gave us a nice tour of the pirates' mangrove hide outs.

My wife and I had a great experience diving with IDC. We completed our advanced open water and felt safe and taken care of the entire time. Communication with IDC for the online course work in advance was easy. Prompt replies from staff with any questions. Josefa did our nitrox class work on arrival and was great. Javiera was our amazing instructor for our open water dives. We felt well-attended to and safe throughout and all our questions were answered. Javiera was our dive leader for our non-course dives as well and was a great leader and pointed out much of the aquatic life to us. The remainder of the staff were all fantastic. Captain Angel took great care of us including during some pretty good ocean swells in the afternoon dives. And he brought mangoes from his grandmas back yard every day which made us very happy in between dives. Beto is the DM and though we didn't dive with him personally, I only heard good things from the other divers on our boat/at the hotel...he is a master of finding the little aquatic creatures that no one else sees. We appreciated his pre-dive briefings with the whole boat and attention to safety. Manu was the other dive instructor on our boat for other divers but we got to know her as well and she is very good and safe. Also thanks to Devon who helped shlep gear back and forth all day. The whole crew was very helpful and attentive. The rental gear was good quality. We would be very happy to return to do more dives with IDC.
